Client Background:
Randolph Goldberg is a bankruptcy attorney who has been practicing in the Las Vegas valley for 15 years with his own firm. Up until mid-2009 he did not had an online presence, aside from Yellowpages.com, and no online reputation. By January 2010 The Web Squad had built him a brand new, professional website; protected his online reputation; and shot his website to the top of the Google.
Problem:
The client came to The Web Squad for a website and online reputation management package that included reputation management and search engine optimization. Before contacting us, the client did not have a website and was plagued by false and slanderous reviews across various websites. The client told us that he not only wanted a professional website, but he also wanted to repair his online reputation and get top rankings across several key terms.
Goals:
- Build a professional website and optimize it for top Google rankings
- Repair the clients online reputation
- Obtain first page rankings for related key terms
Strategy:
The Web Squad used a three-step strategy for the client to accomplish all three goals as efficiently as possible. Step one consisted of optimizing the client’s website for the Google search engine; step two consisted of repairing the client’s online reputation by indentifying bad and/or libelous reviews and removing them from the web; step three consisted of several off-page optimization strategies to improve the client’s rankings in the SERPs.
Step 1: Since the client used The Web Squad for web design we were able to target key terms for the client during the initial build. This included everything from design, content crawlablity, and site coding to make the website easily indexable by the search engines. We created content that specifically targeted both major and minor keywords supplied by the client. This was not an uncommon task since The Web Squad builds every website with SEO compliance in mind.
Step 2: The client was plagued libelous and false reviews from various, unidentifiable sources. The first step to rebuilding the client’s reputation was to remove the false reviews and the old reviews from disgruntled clients who have been dealt with previously. We then got current customers to post quality reviews that accurately reflected the client and posted actual customer testimonials the client received from e-mails and letters.
Step 3: After building the client’s website, which had been pre-optimized for SEO, and repairing his online reputation we were ready to start improving on his rankings in the search engines. We used a combination of social networks, social bookmarks, blogs and other content submission sites to create quality links to the client’s website rather than spamming the site across the web.
Results:
The combination of the client’s optimized site, which caused the site to be indexed for the targeted key terms immediately, and our diverse off-page optimization strategy resulted in the client gaining #1 listings for his targeted key terms for Google Maps. Within 4 months we started to see rankings on the second page in Google SERPs and low first page rankings soon after. After 4 months we also started to see second and third page rankings for several similar, but untargeted key terms. After 6 months The Web Squad had achieved top 3 rankings for the client’s targeted key terms, and first page ranking for 7 other similar key terms.
The client’s reputation management campaign also provided great results. Within 3 months the client’s average rating across the web improved from a 2 out of 5 star rating to a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. During the campaign we were able to alert the client about disgruntled clients he might have and libelous poster. The Web Squad effectively protected the client’s online reputation and simultaneously expanded their visible reputation and value.
